Wow that's an awesome song, super well produced, but I really don't feel like the theme of the contest was respected here, when talking about despair and misery, I really don't imagine a funky song like that haha like I said, totally well produced, love the song but not for the contest, so that's where you lose points. I also feel like you could have found better tom sounds or add some effect to it, they sound a bit dry. The song sounds rather positive too. I hate taking away points for the contest's sake, such a well made song!

IIPhase responds:

Despair and misery comes in many forms. What is common for many can be misery and despair for another. I decided to go with a more traditional approach in a style of the old rhythm and blues era. The repetition in this song is chosen deliberately. It contribute to the same everyday struggle that the man in the story is facing. Taking points off is fine by me it's your call. However judging despair and misery needs you to really understand each and every form of misery and despair and try not to be subjective in that area. :-) Thanks for judging!

Awesome composition, I can feel the despair. I like how it sounds rather classical, there was similar music in one of the Dungeon and Dragon games, in the realm of vampires and stuff, it was awesome. You only lose points for the weak attack times of your instruments that you clearly hear when there are fast notes, you should have reduced the attack time of your instrument to have better fast melodies. That's the only complain I have, great job.

samulis responds:

Ya, I was trying to find a sound in EWQL that was sweet and lyrical, partially sacrificing the attack for that particular feel. I am glad you liked the style. :)

That's a great song but a couple things turn me off when considering the theme of the contest. Alright, irish is celtic, I'll give you that, but a funny song about large lady hands doesn't do it for me haha But still, that's rather subjective and the song is sung and played pretty darn goshdarnit well! You should have had a better irish accent ;) Anyway, great one!

SonicWombat responds:

I guess you're right. My audience was more aimed at really weird people (like my sister), and not punk-rock guitar gods, but I'm still really glad you liked it. |:D

Awesome composition! Great recording too! This is really awesome! Ya got the irish in ya lad! Major props on composition and playing. Some flaws in the guitar tracks but nothing too serious.

NAC Judging:
Overpowered mix and rather uninvolving. The melodies seem to go from A to Z within any kind of connection. The clap is pretty shitty as well. I'd say this is a pretty odd composition which doesn't make me fall in love with it or fall love in any way. The second half is better but the damage is already done and we're going forward in odd-land. From 2:15, it was pretty sweet though, if the song would have been built around a better progression, it could have worked a lot better. The ending doesn't save the song. Great effort though.

Valtanen responds:

Thanks for the review. But now I don't know what to think about the clap. :/

I like your critisism even if I don't be exactly in same opinion. :)

The melodies have some kind of connection to me, for instance. For response I will say the band Queen. How about them? :D

NAC Judging:
Great intro, great overall track, the mix and the drums are a bit weak though. Great composition though, but I don't know if it really fits in that contest.

NAC Judging:
Man, this starts like every freaking wedding dance track. I see what you were going for but a lack of power and diversity made it fail, not a hard fail, just a little fail. The mix is a bit weak and some of the melodies are kinda off and weird. Still a pretty good attempt.

xxxZigZagxxx responds:

Thanks bro. Pretty much my sentiments too. Doesn't represent me as a whole.
