sorry to dissapoint but people sending me their song really isn't a motivation, it's annoying haha, no offense...

Okay, after reading a bunch of your comments, I'd like to add my own two cents. Now, you said that you would have 40+ riffs for each instrument but I think that you should have a few extra, and make it to where you have to learn some of the riffs from other guitarists in story mode, if thats too hard (I know what a bitch action scripting can be) just make it unlockable as you progress through the story. Plus I recomend having really short riffs (Almost like notes but a little more complex, like chords) and then you should make it to where you can build your own Solo in a creator mode or something... I love the whole customization thing you're adding by the way... And I'm not so sure if you covered this, it wasn't in great detail, but I also would absolutely love to see some kind of "Hot Keys" Like maybe not individual notes, but only enough to cover the whole keyboard so you could so a random solo in the middle of a song (Like in Rock Band) Plus, I'm not so sure how exactly you are going to go about story mode, the only way I can see it would be guitar hero style, if you can see another way, then you're a genius! (Which everybody on Newgrounds already knows you are) But other than that, I like all of your add-ins, so I don't won't to fill up this page with a bunch of non-sense that you have already covered, anyways, while you work on this, I'll head back to Punk-o-Matic 1. See ya!

I thought about having unlockable riffs but what I want for POM2 is to keep it as friendly as possible. I don't believe people who just want to have some fun like in POM1 would like being limited because they're not playing the career mode. I also wanna make one experience and not separate game modes...but on that I'm not sure, maybe I should make 2 modes, one where you have everything and the other where you have to earn everything. But again....I think that to make music, it sucks to be limited. but it could be fun to receive other bunch of riffs here and there....I'll definitly think about that aspect. Casual mode vs Career mode.

On that note, about learning from other bands, one of the way to unlock "covers" (demo songs) is to pay to go to a concert and watch a band play a cover you've never heard....once you've heard the song it's unlocked and you can then load it in your jam room, play it, practice it and play it in concerts too.

Really short riffs, like I explained before, are not a good option because 1) it's a pain to make and harder to manage what sounds good together....and 2) frankly, if you're down to the single notes, grab a guitar and start learning the real thing...haha or use like a real audio software. it's just a fun little game. The quantity of riffs will give you the variety you need I'm sure.

The practice and concert modes are like guitar hero (or DDR) indeed....but I'm looking for an original interface, not the usual notes coming down....that would be rather overdone....but it works....

Thanks for the inputs, I'll definitly give a lot of thoughts on the whole unlocking aspect of the game.
Cheers

in this version i was hoping that it wouldent just be three bands youve taken sectionals from
other than just punk maybe put some more crazy guitar like dragonforce or heavy riffs like underminded
you need to put some beastly drums in there and maybe some drums solos for an easy song starter

im really hopin theres some heavyier and faster stuff in this one

like unseen or the casualties maybe clit45 possibly complete control or SOMETHING AMAZING YOU COULD DO PUT IN ASG

on a personal note

my friends band has amazing lead guitar they're called after the tragedy ,they're on itunes and have a myspace so maybe you could check out putting some of their stuff in it as well

ty =p

geez...are you kidding me? you really think I took the riffs from bands? I composed and recorded them myself...

this shit is gonna suck

are you sure about that flamboyant affirmation?

WOW.. FUCKING FAGGOT UR 27 AND TELLING US OUR SHIT SUCKS? IM 15 AND MY FRIEND IS 16 AND PRETTY SURE THAT IF I WOULD CONTINUE WORKING ON THIS BULLSHIT UNTILL 27 I WOULD MAKE SHIT WAY BETTER THEN URS...

ok...

more of a drumset?

and stuff like drumm fills, and other beats.

also what about a bass part?

there should be more riffs this time around, you know.

yeah there will be more beats with a complete drum set
There's a bass too
and more riffs...

I really enjoyed Punk-o-matic 1, It kept me entertained all day long. I wish you good luck with Punk-o-matic 2 and I know that it will be an amazing flash. I tried to make a flash like this a few years back and I failed miserably, half of the stuff didn't even work. Punk-o-matic 2 will definitely be an inspiration to me and other mediocre programmers all around the world.

haha the sound system is the hardest part I think
good luck with your stuff

Yo dude...It's pretty badass that you decided to get off your lazy ass and go punk NG out...much respect...

~~~unknownrocker
haha yeah it's about time!
Yeah dude, loved POM 1..great stuff, if only i could create something like that :)
too be honest, with playing it for years i would of thought it would have been created ages ago :( but yer respect for deciding to make #2 :)
as for ideas..just more bass, guitar, drum sounds really..making the bass a bit more obvious maybe ? what about, rhythm, an lead guitar..an i know its a punk band so im guessing keyboards is out of the question..?
Good luck with Punk o Matic 2 mate :) keep messing round with it..loads of people want it finishing :) love it man!
hmmm there was no bass in POM1, it was rhythm and lead
Also yeah..2 modes would be good..like a 'just for fun' mode and a 'carer mode' like the sound of something like that
yeah...maybe
maybe you always start in career mode but you have a "sell out" option to get everything haha
Also, try to add characters that you can solo play anytime. Like guitarist , Drummer , Bass , maybe Pianist(i wuld love that). Well, if you can guess what this song are without looking it up, you must be a fan of -----------
Piano notes :
A, A , C , A , D, A , D, C
C, C, E,C, G , C , E , C
G , G , B, G , C , G , C , B.
F , F , A , F , B , F , C, B..
good luck on porn2<< lol
it's 7:30 in the morning I'm not even gonna try haha
Maybe you should let people save the songs onto theyr hard drive...But the 1st one was great anyway=D
from what I know flash doesn'T really let you do that...but I'm thinking of making a little external app to convert your songs to mp3 or wav
HICKA FREAKING YA!!!
ive played the game 60 times a day and now i shall play it 100 times a day
YOU STOLE MY LIFE!!!!
ahahha
haha :) nice!
I'd say... Longer songs, definitely. I could only go to about 2 mins on the last one.
The ability to repeat a section would be good. I don't know how it'd be implemented, but if you could select an area on the timeline and totally repeat it somewhere else, for the chorus say, then the mixes would be more like real songs.
Vocals would be cool, but I'd say the best would be to somehow record from mic in Flash and then play it with the song, but that would probably fail because not many people know how to record at a reasonable volume. No, probably it's better without vocals. If you're doing exporting as .mp3/wav then I can work on that myself.
I can't think of anything else, but I love the idea of a database for user's songs, that sounds cool. The ability to load extra riffs, maybe? So by clicking you cycle through 1 - 12, but if you hold a key and click you open a menu with 30 or so? That'd be nice.
Song length: it will be around 5 minutes..should be enough
Better editing: I'll try to make something good with the track editing.
Vocals: nope :)
Riff selection: in POM2 the little riff dialog is the default way, you click and a little riff bar appears with all the riffs to select and preview. you can hold down keys to work as before with cycle up/down
First off, you are amazing for responding to each and every one of these 70+ reviews. Way to get involved with your fans bro! That's awesome. :)
I've read almost everything you have written on this page, and POM2 is actually starting to seem like seriously 100 times better than I thought it would be. I had no idea that you were taking the game in this direction. I assumed it would be pretty much the same as the first one, but just with different riffs and customizable characters. Things like career mode and a bass part are kinda surprising to me, especially since I think I remember a while ago you said that you prefer punk music to be just rhythm, lead, and drums. Good idea though!
Can't wait for POM2 to get finished up! It better be as good as you're making it seem! ;)
I always thought that getting the fans' opinions was the smartest way to ensure a successful product. It doesn't mean to do everything they tell you. I have my own vision of the game and know pretty much what I wanna do with it but I think it's a good thing to be open minded and hear people's ideas. I know I don't want vocals and I know what flash can and cannot do but sometimes, people have good little ideas that I didn't think of.
I don't prefer punk with just rhythm and lead, it's just that I personnaly played only guitar but now I have a bass :) and I think many people, including myself want to improve the sound of the songs and a bass is an important part of music. I add bass now to my compositions so I'll add it to POM2 as well :)
Career mode is also a must in my opinion, in this era of guitar hero/rock band/etc, people want to play their music live :) And I thought that I even have what these other games don't have, the composition part of music. I think that's pretty cool.
I think I'm extending the right features to make it real cool. but people will be the judge of that when I'm done.
Thanks for the comment :)
Ah, and also I think there needs to be a way to cut riffs short, like if you only want your guy to play the first square of a two square riff. I know you could do that in the first one, but you had to cut it off by placing another riff in there, which you don't always want to do. Sorry if this was already suggested, I didn't see it anywhere.
Yup there's a "cut" box that will cut the riff. Someone also suggested a way to play a riff from like the middle of it....like cut the beginning...I don't know how that would work but I'll think about it.
hey man, i will be your first man to be the pro reviewer :) I've reviwed some games and posted them on Gamespot even music, i got experience so expect me to lay out a full GOOD review ;)
you're scaring me haha what if you hate the game :( haha
how about the abillity to have the guys play melody from a selection of songs.
I'd rather compose the riffs and be original
Punk-O- Matic 2! great!!!! I wanna play it!! NOW!!!!! XD realy I wanna play it! men if you have time you can give me tips with the actions scripts?
I'll never have time for that
I find that some punk groups use the piano in some songs, can you put the piano in?
I found while playing punk-o-matic 1 today I wanted to have two of a mussician to make a nice tune. Can you make instruments interchangeable/have the ability to add another player available in the sequel?
Thanks,
Teh-MC
hehe no piano
and there's already a drum player, bass player, rhythm player and lead player....what else do you want? an orchestra? hehe
I will probably give all the riffs to both guitarist so they can mix lead riffs and stuff.
