Punk-o-matic 2: Myth? Reality?

Posted by Evil-Dog Apr. 12, 2008 @ 11:36 PM EDT

I'm currently working on Punk-o-matic 2, it was on hold for a long time but now I'm back on it, hopefully until it's finished. It's all because of comments left by people that I have the motivation to actually make it. So thanks for the support

A long time ago I made a post in the forums to let people make little logos to go on shirts and stuff for the character customization part of the game. Rest assured that all the logos that I kept are being used so thanks to all the people who made them. It's real cool to have people help you like that. I have over 100 logos made by people and that I didn't have to spend an eternity making
and NO I don't accept more logos hehe :)

So what would you guys want in Punk-o-matic 2, share your ideas and suggestions with me if you want. They are all welcome at this point. I think I'm heading the right way with all the right new features but sometimes, "out-of-the-box thinking" really helps and put things into perspective and can lead to very good changes.
I'm not actually gonna tell you all the features I added, I'd rather suprise people when it's out :)

Cheers

Woohoo!

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:16 AM tacosorburritos says:

note by note playing?

like have 2 modes

1 like the first one

1 where u put in tabs or somethin

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:36 AM Evil-Dog responds:

That's kinda impossible because I would have to record each notes and stuff, flash couldn't handle really well playing the different notes seamlessly, it doesn't have a sound processor like let's say a game in C++.
I'm sure you noticed that sometimes you get some offsync in Punkomatic 1, imagine on a note by note basis.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:18 AM Havik99 says:

The only thing i could think of is various styles of guitar like wah wah or echo.
Kinda like Rock Band

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:38 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Yeah but then I'd have to record all the riffs with all the effects.
Real games have sound effect processors like EAX and stuff...like with DirectSound.
Flash doesn't have that.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:19 AM Sir-Nuts says:

My friend will go crazy when Punk-O-Matic 2 comes out, he loves the first version!

As for ideas... well... maybe customizing clothes, instruments or something...

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:39 AM Evil-Dog responds:

that's already the plan

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:20 AM FatalReactions says:

Yeah like tacosorburritos said
For those of us (LIKE ME =D) who actually play the guitar, there should be an option to put in tablature, i know it will take more boring work, but it would definitely make the game the greatest thing that ever happened to NG

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:40 AM Evil-Dog responds:

why don't you grab your guitar and play if you play it haha why go through punkomatic...like I said, note by note is not an option with flash's sound capabilities.
cheers

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:34 AM pickleman77 says:

Character creation would be nice.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:40 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Like I said, that's already planned, that's why I asked for people to make logos.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:57 AM Coolio-Niato says:

If possible create a database of songs users make that you can listen to by loading. It would be tough, but really worth it.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 1:01 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Yeah that would be awesome, I'll see what I can do. But I plan to make a community website where people can submit their songs and they can be rated and reviewed. In fact it's already there partially... it's www.punk-o-matic.net
I still need to make the song submission part. But it would be even better if you could access those songs in the game directly. but that could be hard you know with domain restrictions and all.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 1:09 AM Coolio-Niato says:

Haha you could always create a "highscore" system that saves the code for the songs, and have that highscore be a string + the song numbers. Then when you load from the highscore table and split the lines properly, you get the title + the song code + date creation w/e. Then you can load anyone's song =)

Apr. 13, 2008 | 1:12 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Yeah, I'll try something with external servers and see what I do about that

Apr. 13, 2008 | 1:18 AM Curs0r says:

YAAAAY!!!!!!!!
i was a big fan of the first POM, spent so much time on it...
so very exicited to see what new things are possible with POM2, though im sorry to say i dont think i have any suggestions that aren't obvious (more music and stage/character customization) or impractical with flash n' such, but im sure you and the community will come up with something wicked.
SO... i hope this and all the rest of the comments will help you stay motivated to make POM2 the best it can be.
Hell, its about time eh?

Apr. 13, 2008 | 1:21 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Yeah it's about time haha it's been on hold for too long :)
over 4 years...that's crazy!

Apr. 13, 2008 | 2:05 AM Xendarc91 says:

One word.... Career mode.... uh, 2... words.

where you start as a home/school band and you make songs to the set requirements and depending on the structure and compleated requirements you get graded
better grade = more money = better gear = more/better members = more sounds for making better songs = better songs = better gigs
and thats career mode.
then you got good ol' "Rock Out" mode (same as punk-o-matic1) where you can get more stuff from doing the story mode.
also, (I know it's PUNK-o-matic) although I love punk, I'm a Metal Head and would love to see a band style option where you can change the style of your band.

these are just my ideas for kickassedness.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 2:13 AM Evil-Dog responds:

The career mode is built in punkomatic 2...the way you describe it may give me some different ideas though, thanks
when you say band style? do you mean their appearance? if so then you'll be pleased with the character customization :)

Apr. 13, 2008 | 2:37 AM Xendarc91 says:

by band style i mean the type of music they play e.g. :punk, Metal, rock. (just an idea)
tho it's cool that I'll be able to customize how my members look

Apr. 13, 2008 | 3:04 AM Evil-Dog responds:

haha sorry I'll stick to punk...for now :)

-bass guitar part?
-more solos/fills for lead guitar?
-people moshing!!
-some ska?

Except the ska it's all there :)

oh man, that would be so cool

Apr. 13, 2008 | 3:52 AM OneRedMage says:

Punk-o-matic 1 was THE most reviewed portal entry. (mostly cause reviewers are like "hey! listen to my song: 12345---098765!"

Will Punk-o-matic 2 break that record much faster? Most definately HELL YEAH.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:34 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Haha, hopefully people will submit their songs to punk-o-matic.net this time :)

Easter eggs! Make them hard to find, other than the Dude!! scene in the first one. If there are customizable characters, there should be bonus instuments to find as well.

Hmm....interesting! Good idea! I'll see what I can do

Apr. 13, 2008 | 6:39 AM Kanti says:

Yup :)

Apr. 13, 2008 | 6:51 AM AssualtRifleChampoin says:

DUDE your game rocks ! hurry up and make Punk-O-Matic 2 ! And an idea : make more band members with other music tools , and i am learning to play guiter so i love this game !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:36 AM Evil-Dog responds:

I won't hurry up, I'll take my time and make it perfect :P
I plan to include guitar tutorials for people learning guitar, that should help

Apr. 13, 2008 | 6:54 AM AssualtRifleChampoin says:

Your game is awesome dude you should hurry up to make Punk-O-Matic 2 .
and an idea : Make more band members with other tools ... and also
make Pop-O-Matic LOL .

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:46 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Pop? eww....

Apr. 13, 2008 | 6:54 AM Kanti says:

lol but seriously

ideas:
for the story line[so it has one] make it like where the first one was a audition for some punk rock out and your band made it to the next round :D

then im deff thinking a OUTDOOR stage with some huge ass speakers on the sides.

for backgrounding have it to where like you can be looking at the stage but then if you want you can swivel around and look out into the crowd like you was up on stage and then its easter egg hunting time! make it like when you click on someone or thing it has this chain of funny events you would see at like x-fest :P

ive heard you have customization covered already so ill skip that

i was thinking maybe if you wanted to you could select what your punks are playing like guitarists got a gibson or flying v or double neck, so on and so forth.

id also like cooler lighting effects than the first one but its not ALL about the lights i was thinking maybe adding some type of lazer rock show type thing with the mouse,.

click a option and the screen goes dark while the music you are made is playing then with some cool mouse effects make it light up the stage man!

im just pickin stuff outta my head for most of this but im deff here if you liked an idea and wanted more of what i was thinking or didnt quite get what i ment.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:38 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Most of what you say is kinda there...but you propose some gamplay that contradicts the gameplay that's already there. But better lights will be there. Lights that fit with the music :)

Apr. 13, 2008 | 7:01 AM Kanti says:

ok ok 1 more comment lol! what i think Xendarc91 was tryin to say was that punk is AWESOME but theres also metal and ska and good ol rock

maybe have it to where you have menus to select what kind of genre you want that note to come from, having heavy metal have more shredding wailing notes, good ol rokk having steady lines and some one of a kind solos. throw some ska in there.

if you need me to clarify that more PM me i try to check newgrounds at least once a day ^_^

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:39 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Yeah...I know there are other genres haha but it's punk-o-matic so I'll stick to punk

Apr. 13, 2008 | 7:43 AM The-EXP says:

Add a rhythm game engine to it, say, once you've saved your song you can go into a playback mode. Each little segment loop generates a certain set of notes for keypresses and it strings them all together for you to be scored on, guitar hero style. If this was already in the plan ignore me...

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:40 AM Evil-Dog responds:

You've been ignored :P
that's the core of the career mode, you compose your stuff then you play it live ala guitar hero / DDR
Someone reading all my responses will know all the features haha

Apr. 13, 2008 | 7:45 AM Xendarc91 says:

yeh thanks Kanti
that was what i was trying to say.
ok I'll go away now :)

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:42 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Goodbye :P
If I was to make another something-o-matic, it would be trance-o-matic or metal-o-matic, but metal like Children of bodom, dunno if that's what you like....but I love melodic metal

Apr. 13, 2008 | 7:47 AM Korgha says:

you work for ubisoft :O

and ideas for punkomatic2, BATTLE MODE

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:42 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Expend on that idea, what do you mean?
You can play with 2 players but there's not much battle going on....it's more coop.
so what kind of battle did you have in mind?

If you are not too far into developing it I have some awesome ideas, good luck. Can't wait!

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:43 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Well you're at the right place man, share them if you want :)

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:10 AM white-darkness1 says:

Custom clips of music? Like, instead of only having the usual selectable clips, you could also open the clip editor, and it would open a separate timeline that you could put a few notes on. Clicking on the note would change the pitch instead of the played section. Then back on the main timeline, you could use the custom clip anywhere.

I don't know how difficult that would be to code, though.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:45 AM Evil-Dog responds:

There's no such thing as pitch changing in flash so I would have to record all the notes. Flash's sound system isn't that great to handle many sounds, you probably noticed even in POM1 some clips are off sync. On a note by note basis it would be hell. But I'm adding a new kind of box to "cut" the current riff so it will help structuring the songs a bit better. but it will still be clip based.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:51 AM randomgerbil says:

there should be bass and vocals (by voals I mean srcreams and stuff)as well as drums rythm and lead.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:59 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Bass is there....vocals....maybe :)

Apr. 13, 2008 | 9:57 AM randomgerbil says:

oh,I just have another Idea: set design and a section that shows you the tab for the scores so u can play it in real life as well!

Apr. 13, 2008 | 10:00 AM Evil-Dog responds:

the tab generator is alreay there
Set design, maybe :) do you mean like...customize the place where you play?

Apr. 13, 2008 | 11:00 AM Sialys says:

More clip selections, instead of less than 13, maybe around 20 or so... I always had a problem with creating two songs that sound almost exactly alike.

A longer table to make longer songs. It always bummed me out that I had an awesome song goin' and then I had to end it as soon as I had something good going.

I'm not sure if someone directly suggested vocals, but if you ask me it's not a very good idea. I mean, maybe some punk screams would be cool to start a song, but that could go under one of the guitarists selections, guitarists are usually the ones screaming anyway. :]

Bass wouldn't be too fun either, too many instruments to keep track of and it'll send the file size to fucking high heaven.

Get rid of the background music? Other environments? More demo tracks (inspiration and new features.)?

As for career mode, I saw you were adding that, great idea! Start off as a slacker that just chills in his/her house playin'. Dreams of startin' a band and then you go out and audition for other bands. Maybe the first song you play could be set up to one of your demo tracks. And then if you make it, obviously you're in the band. If not, you move on to another group to audition for and play another demo. (I'm not sure of how complicated that is, but hey, it's an idea!) As for WHILE you are playing in career mode. A store would be cool, new guitars, new drums, new clothes, equipment, etc.

Just some of my ideas, not sure if they've all been mentioned. Sorry if they have.
Good luck we're all here waitin'!!

OH! Another thing, don't give a release date. Surprise us by showing us on the front page!

Later bro!

Apr. 13, 2008 | 11:13 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Some good suggestions dude

Clip selection: I'm going for 40 riffs for each instrument.

Song length: It will now be doubled, so it's like 5 minutes, Should be enough.

Vocals: Yeah it's not really doable but I like your idea of putting it in the guy's riff list instead of a new vocal tracks. I'll see what I can do, some screams and Oi! could be nice but I'm not sure it's worth the headache.

Bass is definitly there but I added a tool to lock it to the rhythm guitar if you don't care about it.

File size: it WILL be big haha

Background music: I won't get rid of it come on...it would be boring as hell without it. But like in POM1 you can turn it off

Other environments: Yeah especially in the concert mode? But customizing the jam room should be there too. Not sure.

More demos: Yeah definitly. In POM2 they're called Covers

Career mode: It will be more about making songs and playing them live to earn money and fans. And you're not one guy but 1 whole band that you create, customize and make concerts with. There are no stores but you can fully customize your characters but you need to buy each little part.

Suprise: Fuck yeah haha

Thanks for the lenghty comment. Some good thoughts in there
Cheers man :)

Oh yeah! and another short movie like "Dude!" in POM1.

This game will be FUCKING AWESOME!!!

Apr. 13, 2008 | 1:10 PM Evil-Dog responds:

I plan to make a bunch if possible

Apr. 13, 2008 | 11:44 AM Akitta says:

well...the only thing i could think of is 'secrets'. like..you play specific notes after each other you get new equipments and clothing...or maybe hidden shorts with the P. Dude (and the penguins, of course)I know it could be a real shitwrack to make them...but DO IT FOR THE FAAAANS!! I wanna see the P. Dude slice a penguin in half by his scythe XD hehe, just kidding...

Apr. 13, 2008 | 1:15 PM Evil-Dog responds:

You're not gonna see the P dude and the penguin anymore though, they are copyrigted and I wanted to make POM2 completely copyright-free.

This comment serves as additional motivation

Apr. 13, 2008 | 1:16 PM Evil-Dog responds:

because you didn't wanna make the escape game I have to work on POM2...sigh...haha jk

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:41 PM Murad136 says:

Thanks dude, you shust earned yourself a spot in my FAV artists fir a few reasons. Ok, first of all there should be a pretty big options of dressing the dude up? Also, what I thought is you could enter your own 46x46 pic as the guys face for fun! Make it exactly te same as last time, maybe even a career mode or battle offs. If you decide to go along with career mode I think yu should add little clips in between anda reputation or respect bar. Last - There should b a few mini-games, I mean who doesn't love those?

Thanks.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 1:27 PM Evil-Dog responds:

yeah there's a big character customization part
The pic thing would be weird haha
yeah little clips here and there....sounds good
mini games...yeah....dunno....I already have a game to make haha

Thanks :)

Apr. 13, 2008 | 12:55 PM LtMcMuffin says:

I think a quicker way of finding the riff/beat you're looking for would be better. I imagine Punk-o-matic 2 means more possibilities and more parts, so if you could streamline the process somehow so you don't have to keep clicking and sampling until you find the working one, blah blah you get what I'm talking about.

Also Dead Kennedys for background music. And none of that remastered bullshit by East Bay Ray.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 1:29 PM Evil-Dog responds:

I'm gonna use local bands for the music. Nothing big and copyrighted
And yeah I have better mechanics to try the riffs before using them :)

Apr. 13, 2008 | 1:42 PM NegativeONE says:

Hey buddy, you should add character customization and hip hop ;D

Har dee har har, see what I did there? Anyhow, glad you're back on this one. There's nothin' like a project where you don't have to wait for the animator :P

Apr. 13, 2008 | 2:17 PM Evil-Dog responds:

exactly haha sigh....bunch of slackers!

Apr. 13, 2008 | 2:22 PM Unbeatable-Cloud says:

As much as I loved the first Punk-O-Matic, there was just something missing. And trust me, I had loads of fun playing around, making my own songs, hell, I even learned a few of the riffs on my own guitar. But one thing I think would make the game great, to appeal to a greater audience, even, would be different riffs. I mean different like..Not JUST Punk music riffs, you know? I really enjoy playing around with this, but I think if there was a wider variety in the sound, then there would be tons more fun. Maybe some death metal riffs, some thrash, black metal...Ah, a little too much. I understand that you've gotta come up with these riffs, but hey, if it'll postpone it a little longer, it'd be well worth the wait.

Anyway, just a suggestion, like you said, "out-of-the-box-thinking." Can't wait to try out the new Punk-O-Matic! RETURN OF THE PENGUIN DOODS!

Apr. 13, 2008 | 2:32 PM Evil-Dog responds:

yeah I know people want a bunch of other styles....but it's punk-o-matic so it'll stay punk :)

Apr. 13, 2008 | 2:28 PM Korgha says:

When i said battle mode i was hoping it would inspiring you to make one LOL

one idea could be that you could play against AI in a sort of guitar hero style with predefined tracks. But thats nothing like the original game so im not too sure if you should include it.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 2:33 PM Evil-Dog responds:

Haha....so you just say a couple words and expect to trigger some crazy ideas from me :P
nice try...I'll see what I can do about BAAATTTLLLEEE!!!!

Apr. 13, 2008 | 2:36 PM Unbeatable-Cloud says:

Alright, that's admirable enough :P

If ever you do decide to make another Blank-O-Matic though, might I suggest Melo-Matic? I'd say something like Children of Bodom/Norther/Wintersun type riffs. Now that'd be a game I'd play every couple of hours...For a couple of hours at a time :P

Apr. 13, 2008 | 2:40 PM Evil-Dog responds:

Yeah, my choices would be trance-o-matic or metal-o-matic...and it would be like Children of bodom, would be awesome :)

Apr. 13, 2008 | 2:56 PM XxCowMeatxX says:

I think you should throw a little metal in there this time. you know a metal riff here or there. oh and customizable length and a feature that lets you start anywhere you want in the song. i hated that in the first one if you made a change you had to listen to the whole song over again.

good luck with the new one... ill be waiting in excitment.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 5:42 PM Evil-Dog responds:

I'm sticking to punk
and you can already start from anywhere in the song in Punkomatic 1
I hated people who can't read the help

Apr. 13, 2008 | 3:05 PM Eli216AkAMcdoAddict says:

Another appearance of the penguin stoners? And is it possible to add some bass in it this time around? One thing I surely liked about the first is that the notes, no matter how it was arranged, sounded as if they were molded together on purpose. Hopefully I still see and hear that in the sequel...probably you can make a contest, if you haven't, out of this? Or try to have some vocals this time? I'm thinking sort of the intros of The Offspring (namely All I Want with the "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!..." or the backup vocals on Tiny Voices (like what Brett and Bryan did during the solo part of the song)...Or better yet, why not have like an interactive showdown between either other players, or AI by having them play the notes in a certain way or pattern in which people are most interested in? All in all, just keep it in the same essence as the first game and it will turn out just right...

I dunno if my advice is worth a look at, it's really late here and I'm drunk, my guitars (yep all 3 of them) broke down before a gig and I'm listening to Meshuggah and The Beatles to pass the time...

Apr. 13, 2008 | 5:49 PM Evil-Dog responds:

There will be a bass this time.
But no penguin stoners, the postal dude and the penguins are copyrighted and I'm not putting copyrighted stuff in this one.
I may try something with some vocals but I don't think it's worth it
have fun passing time hehe

haha....hmmm...

Apr. 13, 2008 | 4:09 PM IrCoolerthanu says:

In my opinion, what would be really kick-ass, would be the abilty to make an entire show, not just a song. Like, adding smoke, lights, pyrotechnics and such.

Apr. 13, 2008 | 5:51 PM Evil-Dog responds:

I'm gonna make light effect that matches with the music but I find that composing the lights would be too much micro management. I'll see what I can do

Still, good luck with the project!

Apr. 14, 2008 | 8:46 AM Knott-Yeti says:

I Have a billion ideas but im listing down the ones I thought could be nesescary(w/e) (pls dont blame me if i copied your ideas as I didnt read the ENTIRE list of comments)

1. Please make it appropriate for all ages, we dont a want boobz in there and kids cant enjoy the fun cuz SOMEBODY , put boobz in there. Also, no vulgarities, nudity, sick jokes, trying to make sick jokes , not funny sick jokes, trying to make sick jokes that are not funny sick jokes sick jokes sick jokes. and last of all , SICK JOKES.i must emphasize on the sick jokes , sick jokes sick jokes sick jokes sick jokes sick jokes.... sick jokes......

2. Currency, when you complete a certain song in career mode, depening on how well you played, you get payed a certain amout of money(eg. Got C+ and earned $750) The money you collect can buy you new guitars, drums, basses, so on. If enough money is earned, can unlock a secret character or song. Maybe a composer .

3. Achievements. Put an achievements tab where you can see what special things you have done (eg. Get A+ in 10 songs in hard mode, unlocked all secret songs) . This can lead to ...

4. Secrets. No point getting achievements if there is no rewards.(eg. 3 Achievements unlocked = uhh... Super crazy irish difficult expert advanced mode)

5. Make a name for your band and compete with other * NPC bands* to win the Annual Best Music Awards ( ABMA ( W/e). If the music is good( I dont know how to do that but anyway) you earn a trophy which can help you in career or challenge mode.

6. Rankings(scoreboard) . Nort like F, B+ ,S , D- or w/e. I mean like if you get all S's in all songs in career mode, your ranking would be " Teh Godliest Chuck Norris shoop da whoop pedobear". But if all songs get D- or D+ or c, you get the rank" An old lady can kill you with a nickel"

7. House. A rock star cant live liek a bum on a street! not much about it here
it is just to buy gating and reinforced doors so PAPARAZZI cant break into your house. But, the less popular , the less paparazzi, therefore , the less money. BUT!! the more popular, the more paparazzi, therefore , the more money(to buy gating).

8. I WANT A GH3 inspired part. compose a song and play it. Upload any songs. Do anything, can even record your own voice =D.

9. AND THE LAST OF ALL..... the u;ltimate ending, an epic cutscene showdown to see which is the best band in the universe, you will be playing agaainst an alien team lol.

ttas all , 9 points written in an easy to read manner , with a few grammar errors. I hope you can include soem of my ideas. I d be as HAPPY AS A HANDICAPPED BEGGAR WINNING $500000000000000000000000000000000000

Apr. 14, 2008 | 1:13 PM Evil-Dog responds:

All Ages: Yeah I guess someone here is a puritain...I'll try to cut down on cussing but meh...kids all know what are boobs and say FUCKING FUCK anyway...

Money system: The customization and extras in POM2 are already based on money earned from live concerts but the money you get is not based on the score but like in real-life based on the number of people who came to your show...the more fans you got the more money you get no matter how bad you sucked...but if you sucked...you'll lose a bunch of fans and your next show will be empty...

Achievements: I have a stats sheet so I'll try to put as much cool little infos as possible :)

Secrets: What I wanna do is unlocking little funny clips as you play.

Fame: I'm not gonna go into analyzing music to say if it's good or not...that's not really possible...some like your song, some don't...there's no algorithm to say if a song is good.

Rankings: I was thinking of allowing a scoreboard with a score on each songs that exists in the community but that maybe pretty complex, I'll see about that...
And your rank titles are lame haha

House: Maybe you're mistaking punkers with britney spears....in POM2 you spend more of your time in the jam room

Interactive mode: The career mode is like GH or DDR...you compose your songs in the jam room...practice them all GH/DDR and play them live to earn money and fans again..ala GH/DDR.

Ending: Hmmm.....no? haha

Thanks for the suggestions :) I like your idea about more stats
cheers

Of course in a formal way so you don't get fired... but your punk so they will understand if you do. lol.

seriously tho this is awesome news and after reading all these comments im sure your gonna make a tight ass game. From what I read, I liked the career mode a lot and am curious on how thats gonna turn out. As well as that section to dl others songs would be sweet too, all in game of course. But its cool that youve answered everyones response even if the questions have been repeated 4-5 times. lol but Good luck dude cant wait. /motivation end.

Apr. 14, 2008 | 2:53 PM Evil-Dog responds:

Yeah if POM2 is a crazy success, it's in my ideas to push this idea to console....with ubisoft or on my own...not sure...Ubisoft could have a badass budget for a game like that hehe considering all the guitar heroes game and rock band and all....not of them actually let you compose the music....that could be interesting.
About the career mode I'm still trying to find a good mechanic to not make it too much like guitar hero or DDR.
peace!

Apr. 14, 2008 | 2:53 PM Squalling says:

A few things that made POM1 difficult, was I would find a new rhythm i wanted to put at the beginning of the song or something... and then I would have to remake the entire song, in other words you should add an insert function so you can insert a new line.

Also if your gonna make 40 riffs per instrument then there should be a function that you click the square you want then type in the number of the riff, so you don't have to click your way through them all.

And this one I doubt you could do, but if possible make a way to compile the selected riffs into an mp3 file and be able to download it or something...

Besides those, thanks for making POM, it was great.

Apr. 14, 2008 | 3:19 PM Evil-Dog responds:

Yeah...like better manipulation of the tracks...hmm yeah I agree...I'll see what I can do to make it really intuitive and easy.

The new riff selection should satisfy you, you can hold keys to do like beofre, cycle up or down or erase but by default, clicking on a box opens a little dialog with all the riffs...you can click on the one you want or click and hold to preview it. Should be quite easy to work with.

For the song to mp3 thing, it's not possible in flash frrom what I know....but I was thinking of making a little external application that would take the code as input and generate a mp3 or a wav if I have no mp3 encoder at hand.

Apr. 14, 2008 | 4:31 PM Squalling says:

Oh one more thing, is you should find a way crop off the beginning to a clip instead of just the end, like you know how you can put another riff right after a long riff it ends at the beginning of the new riff, but say you want just the end of the riff, is there some way you could do that?

Apr. 14, 2008 | 4:57 PM Evil-Dog responds:

hmmm...I'll think about it, sure seems like a good idea. I'll see how I could make that

Apr. 14, 2008 | 6:39 PM Deathwishez says:

Okay, after reading a bunch of your comments, I'd like to add my own two cents. Now, you said that you would have 40+ riffs for each instrument but I think that you should have a few extra, and make it to where you have to learn some of the riffs from other guitarists in story mode, if thats too hard (I know what a bitch action scripting can be) just make it unlockable as you progress through the story. Plus I recomend having really short riffs (Almost like notes but a little more complex, like chords) and then you should make it to where you can build your own Solo in a creator mode or something... I love the whole customization thing you're adding by the way... And I'm not so sure if you covered this, it wasn't in great detail, but I also would absolutely love to see some kind of "Hot Keys" Like maybe not individual notes, but only enough to cover the whole keyboard so you could so a random solo in the middle of a song (Like in Rock Band) Plus, I'm not so sure how exactly you are going to go about story mode, the only way I can see it would be guitar hero style, if you can see another way, then you're a genius! (Which everybody on Newgrounds already knows you are) But other than that, I like all of your add-ins, so I don't won't to fill up this page with a bunch of non-sense that you have already covered, anyways, while you work on this, I'll head back to Punk-o-Matic 1. See ya!

~Deathwishez~

Apr. 14, 2008 | 7:05 PM Evil-Dog responds:

I thought about having unlockable riffs but what I want for POM2 is to keep it as friendly as possible. I don't believe people who just want to have some fun like in POM1 would like being limited because they're not playing the career mode. I also wanna make one experience and not separate game modes...but on that I'm not sure, maybe I should make 2 modes, one where you have everything and the other where you have to earn everything. But again....I think that to make music, it sucks to be limited. but it could be fun to receive other bunch of riffs here and there....I'll definitly think about that aspect. Casual mode vs Career mode.

On that note, about learning from other bands, one of the way to unlock "covers" (demo songs) is to pay to go to a concert and watch a band play a cover you've never heard....once you've heard the song it's unlocked and you can then load it in your jam room, play it, practice it and play it in concerts too.

Really short riffs, like I explained before, are not a good option because 1) it's a pain to make and harder to manage what sounds good together....and 2) frankly, if you're down to the single notes, grab a guitar and start learning the real thing...haha or use like a real audio software. it's just a fun little game. The quantity of riffs will give you the variety you need I'm sure.

The practice and concert modes are like guitar hero (or DDR) indeed....but I'm looking for an original interface, not the usual notes coming down....that would be rather overdone....but it works....

Thanks for the inputs, I'll definitly give a lot of thoughts on the whole unlocking aspect of the game.
Cheers

Apr. 15, 2008 | 2:11 PM Fishslap says:

I'd say... Longer songs, definitely. I could only go to about 2 mins on the last one.

The ability to repeat a section would be good. I don't know how it'd be implemented, but if you could select an area on the timeline and totally repeat it somewhere else, for the chorus say, then the mixes would be more like real songs.

Vocals would be cool, but I'd say the best would be to somehow record from mic in Flash and then play it with the song, but that would probably fail because not many people know how to record at a reasonable volume. No, probably it's better without vocals. If you're doing exporting as .mp3/wav then I can work on that myself.

I can't think of anything else, but I love the idea of a database for user's songs, that sounds cool. The ability to load extra riffs, maybe? So by clicking you cycle through 1 - 12, but if you hold a key and click you open a menu with 30 or so? That'd be nice.

Apr. 15, 2008 | 4:41 PM Evil-Dog responds:

Song length: it will be around 5 minutes..should be enough

Better editing: I'll try to make something good with the track editing.

Vocals: nope :)

Riff selection: in POM2 the little riff dialog is the default way, you click and a little riff bar appears with all the riffs to select and preview. you can hold down keys to work as before with cycle up/down

Apr. 15, 2008 | 4:01 PM JebbaL says:

First off, you are amazing for responding to each and every one of these 70+ reviews. Way to get involved with your fans bro! That's awesome. :)

I've read almost everything you have written on this page, and POM2 is actually starting to seem like seriously 100 times better than I thought it would be. I had no idea that you were taking the game in this direction. I assumed it would be pretty much the same as the first one, but just with different riffs and customizable characters. Things like career mode and a bass part are kinda surprising to me, especially since I think I remember a while ago you said that you prefer punk music to be just rhythm, lead, and drums. Good idea though!

Can't wait for POM2 to get finished up! It better be as good as you're making it seem! ;)

Apr. 15, 2008 | 5:16 PM Evil-Dog responds:

I always thought that getting the fans' opinions was the smartest way to ensure a successful product. It doesn't mean to do everything they tell you. I have my own vision of the game and know pretty much what I wanna do with it but I think it's a good thing to be open minded and hear people's ideas. I know I don't want vocals and I know what flash can and cannot do but sometimes, people have good little ideas that I didn't think of.

I don't prefer punk with just rhythm and lead, it's just that I personnaly played only guitar but now I have a bass :) and I think many people, including myself want to improve the sound of the songs and a bass is an important part of music. I add bass now to my compositions so I'll add it to POM2 as well :)

Career mode is also a must in my opinion, in this era of guitar hero/rock band/etc, people want to play their music live :) And I thought that I even have what these other games don't have, the composition part of music. I think that's pretty cool.

I think I'm extending the right features to make it real cool. but people will be the judge of that when I'm done.

Thanks for the comment :)

Apr. 15, 2008 | 4:11 PM JebbaL says:

Ah, and also I think there needs to be a way to cut riffs short, like if you only want your guy to play the first square of a two square riff. I know you could do that in the first one, but you had to cut it off by placing another riff in there, which you don't always want to do. Sorry if this was already suggested, I didn't see it anywhere.

Apr. 15, 2008 | 5:18 PM Evil-Dog responds:

Yup there's a "cut" box that will cut the riff. Someone also suggested a way to play a riff from like the middle of it....like cut the beginning...I don't know how that would work but I'll think about it.

I know you mentioned no more Disgaea spoofs and I suppose thats pretty much rational and expected but will there be more of a humorous snippet or clip in the game? Come to think of it, it sure as hell has nothing to do with the game but just some wishful thinking. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention in my last post about a couple of suggestions I had in mind...like better background (garage or a concert maybe), a foreground if possible, better lighting, and more bg music...I love listening to those old skool punk rockers!

Apr. 16, 2008 | 12:21 AM Evil-Dog responds:

I certainly hope that Icewolf will help me out with the voice acting and some drawings for the funny little clips. I wanna make a bunch of em. Simple style like the dude thing...but a bunch more. They will make more sense in POM2.

Apr. 16, 2008 | 3:54 AM SuperNerd000 says:

PUT MORE DOOOOOOOD! You could have a few already there, and more you are able to unlock, including the one from the original!

also, are you really a programmer at Ubisoft, if so, did you work on either of the Rainbow Six Vegas games, and if thats true, give yourself a pat on the back, because Rainbow Six Vegas ROX!!!

Apr. 16, 2008 | 8:41 AM Evil-Dog responds:

No more DOOOD....both characters are copyrighted and I'm not putting copyrighted stuff in Punkomatic 2
but I'll make a bunch of other clips

and yeah I worked from beginning to end on RS Vegas 1 then went to work on Farcry 2 and I still am
Glad you liked the game

Ausomatastic!
Can you make the game mod-able?

meaning?

Apr. 16, 2008 | 5:23 PM Njaofthenite says:

I really liked the first one and made a bunch of songs with it so I can't wait for the 2nd one!
I WAS gonna suggest bass (what can i say, i like bass, i even play it :) ) too bad someone already suggested it.
But how do you want me to send you my logo design for when I finish it? (email, pm , etc?)

Apr. 16, 2008 | 8:42 PM Evil-Dog responds:

I said NO MORE LOGO haha

Apr. 16, 2008 | 5:58 PM hollohill says:

I think a 'create-and-play' feature would be badass, Like, you make your song, you copy/paste the code and share it with your friend; that's all fine and dandy. But what if you could play other peoples songs, Rock Band style?

You'd have to pre-make the notes for each riff, but once that's done, you can make it so it's automatically pieced together when someone wants to play a song (of course, I'm sure it would have to load in-game, though).

What would also be cool (and probably a very requested feature) would be a 'convert-to-mp3' button, maybe by way of playing the song back and automatically recording it (I'm not sure if that's actually possible, though).

Yeah, but overall, more music options, more polish, and more customization is a given, and maybe riffs from different genres (like alternative, funk, etc.) of rock (just as music choices, I wouldn't want to have to choose just one music style)?

Apr. 16, 2008 | 11:53 PM Evil-Dog responds:

Are you talking about loading other people's songs...you can already do that in Punkomatic 1.....or are you talking about loading like real band's songs? that's a no cause songs are copyrighted.

Convert to mp3 is not doable from flash but I wanna make a little external app that does it.

It will have more of everything it already has and extra features ;)

Apr. 16, 2008 | 7:22 PM IronKoala says:

Battle mode. You and a friend both compose one song each, then submit it on a site for review. After a pre-set time the one with the higher score is the winner

Apr. 16, 2008 | 11:54 PM Evil-Dog responds:

I wanna have a community where you can submit your songs and people will rate and review it....so that kinda does it....as far a battle mode goes...I don't know...I prefer coop :)

Apr. 16, 2008 | 8:57 PM cogli-2 says:

i remember playing punk-o-matic back in 05', and as i can see number2 will have more features making gameplay hopefully better, all i know is that if its better then the original then god damnit this game is going to be the best!

It should be better...if it's not I failed miserably somewhere along the way haha

make a song that must use one or more specific riffs?
what other rules would challenges have?

could....speak....a rhythm? let's stay on earth shall we....

Apr. 17, 2008 | 4:52 PM hollohill says:

No, I mean like, you can play a song like a separate game, like Guitar Hero, where you hit a button as a note comes.

Apr. 17, 2008 | 9:10 PM Evil-Dog responds:

yeah that's already in the game, that's the core of the career mode. You compose then you^play them in concerts :)

can't really record the voice.....but yeah I'll try to make them move more. and you can name your band

Apr. 18, 2008 | 10:09 PM hagaya says:

well, me being one of the few people who read EVERY comment and reply, as well as the post itself(gasp), I know what you haven't mentioned yet (on this post) that I would like to see; stage presence. Dudes jumping around like a true punk band should. There should also be a "cutoff" track. Put this thing in and it'll just flat out stop the sound where it stands, nothing. What is your timeframe(if applicable) for this games completion? Vocals could be easily fixed by Blink 182 inspired words that you cannot tell what he sez, and as well as "Oi", "da-da", "na-na" "la-la" "woo" and "yeah". What would be cool would be the ability to change each members instruments(i.e. guitar chorus, drum and bass setup etc.). What specifications for band member customization are there? like gender, shirt, hair, face, etc. Whaddaya think of my Ideas, whaddaya wanna say about yours?

Apr. 18, 2008 | 11:47 PM Evil-Dog responds:

You haven't read very well cause I said there was a cut off box
vocals like blink would be lame....no vocals in POM2, I said it many times
For the customization let's say it's quite enough...you'll see when it's out
and no time frame for release....it's done when I'm done...

Apr. 19, 2008 | 12:52 AM Tho666 says:

first of all I'd just like to say punk-o-matic was one of the better music making games i have played be sides of course guitar hero rock band ect. but i think you should instead of making a song just for the hell of it you should actually have like concerts to preform and sweeeeet unlockable characters guitars basses drums ext. like the GOD OF ROCK! i know no matter what it will turn out to be a good game.
also you should have a mini game when you do hella good on a concert you'd have to try to get away from all the crazy people!! lol that'd be sick cya around :P

Apr. 19, 2008 | 9:02 AM Evil-Dog responds:

the practice and concert mode are like Guitar hero, you play the songs on the keyboard. so you compose your songs and you play them live.

maybe you've never been to a punk concert but it's not a britney spears or Justin Timberlake concert....there's no such things as idiotic fans trying to touch a punk singer or musician or whatever hehe

Apr. 19, 2008 | 1:01 PM Alien-Slayer says:

oo i just got an idea i don't know yet if they telled or something but.Like if you can buy new instruments.and like at the end. you can jump of the stage wow that could be so cool.

yeah you can buy instruments hehe

Also i think you should make it so when you play the songs you made you can skip to certain parts so you don't have to listen all the way through. if your doing something like super guitar manican, put 2 players in it. when is it ruffly going to be out?

Apr. 19, 2008 | 6:48 PM Evil-Dog responds:

you could already skip to any part in POM1....why doesn't anybody check the help :(
and there's 2 player mode already
and it will be roughly out when I'm roughly done hehe

Apr. 20, 2008 | 1:22 AM Alien-Slayer says:

speed of the beats?and maybe choose how long do you want to hear them if they stay at the same speed?

Apr. 20, 2008 | 3:08 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Speed variation is not really an option because I have to record the riffs...I would have to record them at different speed...it would be crazy.

Apr. 20, 2008 | 12:15 PM Nitoku7319 says:

I don't know if this is impossible or someone else has had the idea but
the ability to change the beat might be pretty fun so I could make a fast part than a slowish one.

Apr. 20, 2008 | 4:41 PM Evil-Dog responds:

like I said right before....can't do that

Apr. 20, 2008 | 12:18 PM Nitoku7319 says:

Okay since I just looked above my comment and realized someone with the same idea posted just before me heres a suggestion:
the ability to get songs from Punk-O-Matic 1 and maybe more squares for notes.

Apr. 20, 2008 | 4:41 PM Evil-Dog responds:

you can load POM1 songs in POM2 and there will be tons more riffs and double song length

Apr. 20, 2008 | 3:56 PM CanadianIdiot says:

Thank God you're putting in bass. You can't have music without it!

I dunno if it has been asked for yet, but if you could make it possible for us to transfer our songs from POM1 to POM and improve on it (i.e. add bass), thne that would be rockin'.

P.S. Could you try and bypass 2 minute songs?

Apr. 20, 2008 | 4:42 PM Evil-Dog responds:

yeah you can load POM1 songs in POM2 and with the bass, you can use a "lock" box to lock it to the rhythm guitar so you'll get your POM1 song sounding cool with the POM2 sound and bass.

Apr. 20, 2008 | 4:30 PM max2255 says:

I also think there should be one like the first and then the actual note bar, yes I play the gutar and the reason I like this so much is because I cant find anyone I know whao can play a good bass, damnit, thats why we need games like that for poeople like me who cant find any other good players...... meh, also I liked the dood thing in the other one do another thing like that.

Apr. 20, 2008 | 4:44 PM Evil-Dog responds:

I'm not sure what you're talking about
one like the first and then the actual note bar?

Apr. 20, 2008 | 7:01 PM kdfsjljklgjfg says:

First of all, huge fan, the game that played a giant role in hooking me to newgrounds, thanks for that.

Second of all, just bass, lead/rhythm, and drums? Or will you add keyboard as well? As I've read, you know CoB, so you have to know how Janne Wirman and Alexi Laiho can sound absolutely godly with Guitar/Keyboard duos. I'd like to have a few keyboard "riffs" in there, but if not, then no big deal.

Also, whenever I played POM1, I left myself a little space at the beginning of about 10 boxes so I could listen to things and see how they transition and work out together without playing through the whole song. Is there going to be a sort of feature like a small "Preview Box" where I can listen to how something sounds without putting it into the actual song, or at least a "skip-ahead" feature?

Last thing, in most riffs, they went up to 3-4 "boxes" of time. Is there going to be a way to use the middle boxes without using the first?

For example:

Riff1
1A 1B 1C

Riff2

2A 2B 2C 2D

Is it going to be possible to do things such as 1B, 1C, 2A, 2D?

Apr. 20, 2008 | 8:24 PM Evil-Dog responds:

I don't know where people get the idea that punk music has piano or keyboard....it doesnt hehe CoB is metal....this is PUNK-o-matic...

there was already a skip ahead in POM1 to start the song from anywhere...
and yeah you'll be able to preview the riffs in the riff selector and on the music sheet.

I don't think I'll support start a riff from the middle....maybe....I'll think about how that would work....but there's a riff cutter that can stop a riff in the middle without starting another riff.

Cheers

I absolutely love(d) your Punk-o-matic #1, and I hope #2 will be even better.
Pherhaps give the player a choise which instruments he/she wants to use, like 3 fillable bars, but 5 pickable insturments. (or just add another bar with another instrument)
and a feature that you can download your own song as an mp3 file?? no idea if thats possible.
Maybe a slider with which you can adjust the selected musicpiece, like: Hard/soft or a slider for the height of the note? (probably a lot of work but im just brainstorming)

Thats about it (for now)

Apr. 23, 2008 | 2:38 PM Evil-Dog responds:

the soft/hard slider isn't really doable but I'll have smooth riffs :)

10 stars = NEWB
50 stars= ROOKIE

5000 stars= AUDIO CRASHER

etc.

Apr. 24, 2008 | 5:16 PM kdfsjljklgjfg says:

Just a quick question of curiosity here, but is career mode going to be TOO easy?

From what I know of technology, it will be pretty impossible for the game itself to distinguish an awesome string of riffs from something that sounds like utter crap, since you know..it's just a machine.

Or is career mode going to be completely different like DDR or normal rhythm games?

Also, not sure if this is too far out of your skills or not, but you say that a lot of awesome ideas won't be possible because you'd have to record the riffs yourself and it would simply be too time consuming, and a lot of people want vocals, but making them too extensive would be from the same problem.

Would it possible to set up some kind of thing on a separate site, probably punk-o-matic.net, where people can set something up to have their own database of their own sounds they recorded and uploaded, but with a certain max limit, so as not to overload the servers? I feel this would be able to give a lot of people what they want without really adding a whole bunch of work.

Apr. 25, 2008 | 9:28 AM Evil-Dog responds:

The career mode is indeed like Guitar Hero / DDR.

yes, things like different tempos or effects are not possible because flash doesn't have an audio processor. it just plays sounds.

pom.net will have a song sharing system with the data, not actual mp3 songs

Apr. 24, 2008 | 6:19 PM im2kool1017 says:

Oh man I'm soooooooo excited. Dude I dunno what it was with POM1 but it was the element of creating your own song from scratch that really attracted alot of your audience I think. I really hope you keep that in POM2. And 40 riffs each sound amazing. That will keep me for a couple weeks at the most. I wish I had some cool ideas to give you but at the moment I really don't but if I do I'll get back to you man. Good Luck!!!

Hey, not sure if it was asked or not, (I only checked the first few comments) but is it possible for you to add a speed function ? Like to either slow or speed up individual sounds, or the whole track together ? I think that would be pretty cool :).. Kind of stopped you from making something really creative in the first one.

Apr. 26, 2008 | 4:06 PM Evil-Dog responds:

can't really change the tempo, I'd have to record the riffs at all the speeds.

Apr. 27, 2008 | 12:42 PM kdfsjljklgjfg says:

Will you add in sound effects exterior to the music itself that are commonly heard in songs' intros? (Lightning, wind, chimes, etc.)

I'm assuming that half of one of the guitar's riffs won't sound almost the exact same except in a slightly different tone.

Also, kinda off-topic from this particular blog, but what ever happened to the Freak series?

Apr. 28, 2008 | 12:16 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Sound effects I don't think so :)
the new rrifs should be varied enough, I hope

The freak series is....well....on hold indefinitly hehe

Hiya!

It's really cool that your gonna make a second Punk-O-Matic, and therefore i got an idea maybe :D

(I don't know if others said it too but here it goes ;))

Maybe.. Some kind of online song putting. Like that beatbox game : http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /367974

But then.. People could put there songs on some sort of the same thing. And if others click on the song they want, the notes will come (Or not so others wont steal his 'work') And then the song will be played off :D

Greetings from BlackL ;)

Apr. 28, 2008 | 12:20 AM Evil-Dog responds:

The song sharing won't be in the game but rather on the community website punk-o-matic.net, it will be simpler for me and build a better community with forums and chat

ok first let me say punk-o-matic is one of the funnest game like ever also i think you are very good at flash. Getting to the point maybe unlockable characters eddie Van Halen, jimmy Hendrix, i dont really know what else you could do to make it better as long as character creation is in there i think it'll be sick i know it will.

I NEED NEW PUNK O MATIC!!!! lmao hope its coming about great!

Well some ideas now,
- Make a solo tool. So that lets say you want a drum fill/solo it will give you cool little things to make a drum fill/solo with. (same with guitar)
- More guitar solo type riffs. (kinda explained ^^ up there lol)
- Make it more hands on. Idk how to make it more hands on then it is now but I know it helps make a game fun.

WHEN IS IT GONNA BE DONE?!?!?!?!?! lol I can't wait!!!

Apr. 30, 2008 | 11:21 AM Evil-Dog responds:

If you want that level of precision, I suggest you simply get a real music software :)
it's just a game to make simple music :)

It's gonna be done when I'm done doing it

Apr. 29, 2008 | 7:45 PM Xarnor says:

Hey man, do you really work for Ubisoft? That's pretty cool. Ubisoft has some pretty awesome games. Anyway, I don't know about this Punk-o-Mah-jib thing, but your music if FUCKING awesome! ;D

Apr. 30, 2008 | 11:22 AM Evil-Dog responds:

Yep I do

Apr. 30, 2008 | 8:34 AM Tovi-Noname says:

I'm not sure if it's already been said, seeing as I'd rather not read 137 comments at 7:30 a.m. but you should make it so that different venues are playable. Maybe even add a bit of customization with lighting effects and the such.

The ability to use different guitars/bass/drum kits would be really cool as well.

Maybe even a customizable band. Y'know, two guitarists, one bassist, one drummer or one guitar, one bass, one drummer, or two guitars, no bass, on drummer, etc.

Also, drummer needs a cowbell. It's like an unwritten law, lol. Good work on the first though, I'm really looking forward to this next one!

~Tovi~

Apr. 30, 2008 | 11:20 AM Evil-Dog responds:

MORE COWBELL!!! haha
all you want will be pretty much there :)

May. 2, 2008 | 6:34 AM Kickern says:

Make more instruments and a light customize, so you can choose yourself how the light will be. And maybe some rockets and flames to come up from the ground.
But when will the game be out, which month.
PS ! I love this Punk-o-Matic =)

May. 3, 2008 | 4:37 PM Evil-Dog responds:

no idea when it will be out, when I'm done

Newgrounds?

May. 3, 2008 | 4:38 PM Evil-Dog responds:

May. 2, 2008 | 8:25 PM Nitoku7319 says:

I don't feel like searching 100+ comments so I din't know if it's already been said but maybe you could add a feature that allows you to make certain parts quieter?
I'll make it easier for me to hear the rhythm.

May. 3, 2008 | 4:38 PM Evil-Dog responds:

yeah there's that

May. 3, 2008 | 12:13 PM jpiz4c00l says:

May. 7, 2008 | 12:29 PM Evil-Dog responds:

yep!

May. 4, 2008 | 5:20 PM Kickern says:

Two things:
-are you really working for ubisoft ?
- punk-o-matic 2 should have a play yourself mode like SC guitar maniac Dx 2 and 3.
So when you have made the song you could play it yourself like in guitar hero or something, I know it will be really hard but it will be worth it.
(I know its a stupid idea)

May. 7, 2008 | 12:30 PM Evil-Dog responds:

- yes
- that's the plan

May. 4, 2008 | 5:21 PM Kickern says:

you should have more instruments and a singer :P

May. 7, 2008 | 12:30 PM Evil-Dog responds:

there's a bassist but no singing

May. 5, 2008 | 8:29 PM Thegluestickman says:

I think this may be Far fetched but: You could try too make it so that you create the song, and then you can play it Gutair hero like. Or make a downloadable MP3 file of your song.

May. 7, 2008 | 12:31 PM Evil-Dog responds:

the concert mode is planned to be like guitar hero and it's pretty functional already
and go to punk-o-matic.net and join the community, you can get a mp3 converter there

May. 5, 2008 | 8:43 PM 546871 says:

Try to make like a tour mode!

May. 7, 2008 | 12:31 PM Evil-Dog responds:

a career mode yeah

May. 7, 2008 | 4:16 PM ekmharjyot756 says:

May. 8, 2008 | 9:58 PM Zetvirus55 says:

"If I was to make another something-o-matic, it would be trance-o-matic or metal-o-matic, but metal like Children of bodom, dunno if that's what you like....but I love melodic metal"
WOOT, another Bodom fan!
"Right, I'll try to put a lot of them. They're called Covers in POM2"
If the whole copyright thing goes good, would Inflames' trigger hasppen to be one?

May. 9, 2008 | 9:48 AM Evil-Dog responds:

you don't understand...I don't want copyrighted stuff in the game....the covers are punkomatic songs, like the 2 demos in POM1

May. 9, 2008 | 4:05 PM Zetvirus55 says:

"you don't understand...I don't want copyrighted stuff in the game....the covers are punkomatic songs, like the 2 demos in POM1"

hehe

May. 10, 2008 | 1:15 PM Ouruto71-10 says:

Me again!
Hey, by the way, for this sequel have you thought of like, a world tour mode? that would make it alot more fun!
Oh and also, if it's possible to create characters, could you put in a instrument
designing feature?

May. 11, 2008 | 2:00 PM Evil-Dog responds:

you'll have all that to a certain extent

May. 10, 2008 | 1:46 PM AbSoRbAnTman says:

Alright ive read most of the comments so ill try not to repeat anything youve hear a million times (dont you hate that >.<). So i know your going to have a lot of rifts going for the second pom but i think it would drive more people to play through the whole thing if you had to play through the story to get more of the complexed ones. Just a thought, and a git-er-done for......... I really dont know xD.

May. 11, 2008 | 2:00 PM Evil-Dog responds:

yeah unlocking riffs...I'm thinking about it

May. 11, 2008 | 3:56 AM Sittam900 says:

May. 11, 2008 | 2:01 PM Evil-Dog responds:

IN YOUR FACE! haha thanks

May. 12, 2008 | 2:45 PM Ouruto71-10 says:

Three questions:
1.How is the sequel doing now?
2.If you are, how many more notes are you going to put in punk-o-matic 2?
And 3.Can you reply to this message with one of songs you've made on the first
punk-o-matic?
(If you have made any).

May. 12, 2008 | 11:54 PM Evil-Dog responds:

I was working on the community website for a bit
www.punk-o-matic.net, join us! :)
and now I'm back on the game which is 60% done I'd say
tons more riffs....
and I don't really make songs with the punkomatic, I compose real music

May. 12, 2008 | 5:07 PM Scorpiopost says:

Dude you got to add alot of guitars and basses so you can chose which you want them to play with and maybe if you put everything right they make cover songs idk its up to you im sure youll make it perfect

May. 12, 2008 | 11:54 PM Evil-Dog responds:

:) I'm sure you'll be satisfied!

May. 12, 2008 | 7:07 PM eraserhead678 says:

May. 12, 2008 | 11:55 PM Evil-Dog responds:

By what of you're estimation of time will it be until it's out?

Jun. 30, 2008 | 10:26 PM xXrOMBIeXx says:

I think that it should be more like a game, other than a flash. Like a mini guitar hero on the computer! With like a career mode, free play mode, lights and crowds, and cool stuff you can do to your insturments while playing to get more people to like you or something.. and also maybe a button you can press to do sweet little fill ins. IDK! What ever you come up with, Ill be happy, I love P-O-M. :)

Sep. 20, 2008 | 9:49 PM TheD123 says:

2 things. 1. Is That guy with the gotee The Postal Dude? 2. Maybe you could add some lyrics?

Oct. 3, 2008 | 10:20 PM KinBeefy3 says:

Ok, completely off-topic, but I like your music and once I learn to make a flash of high caliber, I was wondering if u wouldn't mind helping the cause with ur awesome riffs? PM me whenever u get the chance after reading this.

I got an idea, how about you make a punkomatic server in the game where you download other peoples songs, instead of having to share them by code?
